What to Expect in a Meditation for World Peace Class

Our meditation classes are open to everyone, welcoming individuals from all backgrounds and beliefs who are interested in learning the art of meditation. Regardless of your experience level, these classes provide a broad introduction to Buddhist meditation, teachings, and practice. The primary aim is to create a space for inner peace and compassion through prayers and silent contemplation.

Class Structure:

1. Open and Inclusive Atmosphere:

Classes are designed to be accessible to all, with no prerequisites, special equipment, or specific attire required. Feel free to come as you are, and masks are optional.

2. Guided Breathing Meditation:

The class typically begins with a 15-minute guided breathing meditation. This practice aims to relax both body and mind, creating a conducive environment for deeper introspection.

3. Teaching Session:

Following the meditation, a short teaching session ensues. The teachings focus on integrating Buddha’s wisdom into everyday life, offering practical insights to address daily challenges. These talks are meant to be contemplated deeply, providing a path to solving problems and enhancing personal mental peace and happiness.

4. Meditation for World Peace:

The teaching is complemented by beautiful prayers for world peace, featuring verses from Shantideva’s Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life and Geshe Langri Tangpa’s Eight Verses of Training the Mind. This segment emphasizes the collective aspiration for global harmony.

5. Silent Contemplation:

After the prayers, a five-minute pause is observed for silent contemplation. This allows participants to reflect on any insights gained during the teaching and prayers, fostering a personal connection with the practice.

6. Dedication:

The class concludes with a dedication, where thoughts and wishes are directed towards those experiencing physical and mental pain, including those affected by war and famine. The collective hope is for their liberation from suffering.

This free class aims to provide a serene and inclusive space for individuals to explore meditation, cultivate inner peace, and contribute positive energy towards global well-being. Everyone is welcome to join in this journey towards greater compassion and understanding.
